Back from LA, Macbeth, and What I've Been Watching

Hey, blog! Happy November! I’m back in NYC and another year older. As the days get seemingly shorter and darker, I become more grateful for my friends, family, and craft!

UPDATES.

LA was a blast. I missed my brother a lot, so it was great to spend some quality time with him. Locals warned me about the dangers of the LA bus system, but I learned and mastered it in just a few days, completely unscathed. I met with some great producers, actors, and directors, and finally completed a solid draft for the first half of a play I’ve been toiling over for some time. And I got another tattoo!

From the Heart at The Green Room 42 went so well! Thank you to everyone who attended in-person and via the livestream. I was so honored to perform amongst such beautiful voices!

I’ve been working, as an actor, with a director for Columbia University’s MFA Directing program! A few weeks ago, I was trekking up to the Upper West Side for rehearsals, and we performed a scene from Macbeth for the renowned Saheem Ali, who teaches this class. It was such a rewarding experience; rehearsing with such a brilliant director, meeting new actors, and watching other directors’ interpretations of the same scene. I’ll be back later this month for another scene!

This week, I’m doing a new play reading at Abrons Art Center! I love the script, and I really hope that I get to do this part onstage one day. Other than that, I’m filming self-tapes for a play, a TV show, and a feature film and recording a voice-over audition for a video game.

WHAT I WATCHED LAST WEEK.

  • All Her Fault. I watched the whole thing in two days. Sarah Snook is amazing. I recommend it, but be warned: once you start, you can’t stop.

  • Queer Love Ultimatum (Season 2). Obsessed. My favorite couple is Bridget and Kyle. I am Team Haley throughout all the drama she’s been involved in. I think Marie deserves so much better.

  • Christy. It’s a great story, but I wish someone other than Sydney Sweeney got to tell it. I loved the script, liked the cinematography, and was so gagged to see Katy O’Brian as Lisa Holewyne!

  • Bugonia. Poor Things and Kinds of Kindness rocked my world when I saw them, so I was prepared to be shocked. It was entertaining, visually stimulating, curious, but ultimately predictable. I would still recommend it.

Hope you all are doing well. May your beds be cozy, your trains on time, and your cups full.
