Hello EVERYONE!

Happy Monday! I’m launching a blog. Here it is! Stop by every Monday for more updates.

UPDATES.

I am currently in rehearsals for a production of Fun Home at Tisch New Theatre. I’m playing Alison, and the show goes up in late April. Click here to get your tickets!

Also, my a cappella group, the NYU Mixtapes, has set the date for our end-of-year concert! Our performance will be on May 4th at 7:00 PM at an on-campus venue. I’ll be soloing “Creep” by Radiohead. If you’d like to attend, hit me with a reply and I’ll finagle you in.

In personal news, I’m turning in my thesis in late April, graduating in May, and moving Hannah into my apartment in July. Yippee!

Last week, I performed with a few cast members at Whistle & Fizz, a very hip Greenwich Village coffee shop, at a fundraising event for Fun Home at Tisch New Theatre. I sang “Maps” from the show. Click here to watch a video that our producer, Hannah, took at the event.

A BOOK RECOMMENDATION.

I’ve been reading The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For by Alison Bechdel. It’s a collection of Bechdel’s weekly comic strip, which ran between 1983 and 2008. The Essential DTWOF contains only 390 of the 527 episodes. Dykes to Watch Out For follows a group of lesbians in an unnamed New England-esque town. Bechdel chronicles their lives, romantic endeavors, moral struggles, and politics as they age in real-time. I don’t know what I’ll do when I finish it because I love reading it and when I’m not reading it, I’m often thinking about the next time I can read it. I care deeply for the characters and I’m invested in their futures. I’m learning about lesbian culture during the onset of the AIDS epidemic. I wish I could hang out with them. Sometimes, I feel like I am.

I purchased my copy of the collection at The Strand, but you can also find episodes of DTWOF on Alison Bechdel’s very well-organized website.

That’s all for now. Feel free to hit me with any questions or comments.
